Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion uses small crystals to exfoliate the epidermis of the dead skin cells.  The treatment is much gentler than a chemical peel although the effects are more subtler.  After a treatment, the skin is more radiant, make-up goes on easier, and pigmment is evened out.

Your skin will look and feel healthier, smoother and more refreshed after this treatment. A more even skin tone and texture are key benefits.

At QE Park Laser Clinic, we have the Mattioli Ultrapeel Microdermabrasion.  The system is physician-grade and FDA approved.

What It Treats

  1. brown sun spots
  2. hyperpigmentation
  3. uneven skin tone
  4. aging and dry skin
  5. large pores
  6. fine lines and wrinkles
  7. active acne
  8. scars

How It Works

A gentle exfoliation is performed with a jet of fine mineral crystals passing over the skin's surface, creating a gentle vacuum. Crystals gently exfoliate the outer most layer of the skin. Typically 4-8 treatments at 1-3 week intervals are required for optimal results.  Depending on the area being treated, the procedure can take between 20 and 40 minutes.

Results

The skin may feel tight as if exposed to the sun or wind after treatment. Some skins may peel and it is important to use good moisturizers as advised by the clinic staff. If deeper treatment is performed, there will be marked redness which will usually subside within a few days. When treating scar tissue or stretch marks there may be a slight blood spotting and some swelling may occur. Healing time varies from 3 to 4 days or longer, but the results are worthwhile.
