Acne is a disease of the sebaceous glands of the skin which effects people of all ages.  Acne is formed when the oil glands are plugged by a build up of oil, dirt and dead skin, and bacteria become trapped, proliforating in the glands. As a result, painful, inflamed acne lesions occur.  Acne may be papular, pustular, cystic or a combination.

Acne is more than a cosmetic problem, it can lead to scarring, depression and social isolation. 

There is now a new way to treat acne called Photodynamic Therapy or PDT.  This new treatment involves using blue light called BLU-U with or without a topical medication called Levulan. 

Acne can be treated with 1 or more topical medications, oral medications, or light therapies.
